A city like no other deserves a charity like no other. Chicago is Open Heart Magic’s home base. It is here that the program was born and where it continues to thrive and grow, thanks to an incredible community of passionate supporters. These determined individuals continually push the organization forward in our mission to bring hope, laughter, and strength to more sick children.

Reaching thousands of sick kids every year

Each year, our certified Hospital Magicians reach thousands of hospitalized kids in Chicago, one-to-one, at their hospital bedsides. Over the past decade, Open Heart Magic has been able to expand the Hospital Bedside Magic® program to 9 children hospital partners throughout Chicagoland. Thanks to the amazing work of our volunteers, we’ve been able to change the hospital experience for critically ill kids throughout the city and its surrounding suburbs.

Open Heart Magic is quite possibly the best place to volunteer in Chicago. Not only will you be making a real difference in kids’ lives, you’ll also be working with nice, caring people who like to have fun. We’re so grateful for our enthusiastic volunteers — without them, we would not be able to transform the hospital experience for so many critically ill kids. The Open Heart Magic community includes certified (and committed) Hospital Magician volunteers, dedicated (and fast) Charity Team runners, and the most inspiring (and devoted) Board of Directors. We can’t do this without you

Running a successful nonprofit isn’t easy. That’s why, for the last decade, Open Heart Magic has worked hard to make Bedside Magic a must-have for hospitals. We minimize costs with a staff that runs lean (but not mean!). And we approach each hospital partnership with a strategic plan for building a sustainable program that will reach sick kids for generations. The only way we can keep our commitment to seeing all kids in a hospital — and reaching them at critical moments in their treatment – is with the continued, tremendous support of the Chicago community.
